Martial Art Classes Teaches Leadership

What is the key to being a great leader? It is knowing how to be one, of course. The DOUVRIS martial arts classes allow teens to join our leadership team so they can receive the experience of being a leader in life. Our young leaders are taught how to manage a class of younger belt students, giving them hands-on experience with knowing how to influence people. Our leadership program also gives them an opportunity to practice public speaking by talking to the class and completing demonstrations.  The leadership skills taught are essential in today’s work place so that they have the confidence to excel in a career that requires leadership.

Karate Classes Trial Offer

Our karate trial offer includes two classes and a new uniform for only $19.95 and is available at all of our Ottawa-Gatineau locations. Learn how karate classes can help develop the important skills for success, contact DOUVRIS today, or call us at 613-234-5000 to sign-up!

Douvris Members Share Their Experience

Hear what our members have to say about our karate program

what our members say...

“If there’s any martial arts school out there that’s doing things right, it’s Douvris. I can honestly say that in all my years of taking classes here, I’ve never received anything less than the best service and instruction possible. Keep up what you’re doing because as it stands I’m proud to call myself a member of the Douvris family!”
“My boys are 8 and 6 years old and have had negative experiences on the school ground. I was extremely impressed with the four instructors who led the Bully Busters seminar. What was most effective about the session is that the kids were actively participating in the discussions and in the scenarios.”

DOUVRIS Martial Arts strongly believes in developing the character of our students along with the martial arts skills we teach them. The Striving for Excellence character development program was developed with over 30 years experience in teaching children respect, confidence and self-discipline. Striving for Excellence gives our members the opportunity to discuss, practice, and apply character development traits in their lives. The program includes a Karate Kids Workbook and a Karate Tykes Colouring book which children complete each month at home. The lessons outlined in the workbook are designed to accompany the “Word of the Month” which instructors discuss with students during each class.

The Word of the Month for October is

Courage

For us at Douvris Martial Arts, courage means trying new things even if they scare us. And like anything else, courage increases through regular practice. That’s how we help students become brave, by teaching them to push through their limits and improve themselves every day.

“Everyone that steps through these doors takes the first step in showing us their courage,” Sensei Cody Diesbourg explains, adding that it takes guts to launch yourself into a new adventure, even if only to find out whether you like it or not.
