DOUVRIS Announces Paul Conway Memorial Award
DOUVRIS has launched a new award in honour of one of its members and Sensei who continued his karate practice while fighting a battle with cancer. The Paul Conway Memorial Award will be awarded annually to a DOUVRIS member who has overcome significant obstacles to achieve his or her Black Belt, while best exhibiting the traits of strong spirit, fortitude in the face of adversity, and positive mentorship – both in life as well as in the dojo.
Any DOUVRIS member from any of our dojos may be nominated for the Award. The Award is given during the school’s annual Black Belt Grading event, when warranted. Recipient(s) are nominated by their dojos and chosen by Master Sensei, John & Peter Douvris.
The award consists of an exclusive “strength” Black Belt with symbolic embroidery, and a $500.00 donation to a charity of the recipient’s choice.
